Angels Among Us...August 1, 2021

The universe can be magical and joyful.

A few days ago I had an echocardiogram for pre-op purposes. The University of Minnesota clinics and hospitals are beautiful, but it is hard to wait in rooms like these. Waiting, the hardest part.

Walking into the exam room, I crumpled into tears. It was all suddenly too much. I told the tech that tears hadn't often happened, in the nearly 100 appointments since January.

She asked if I wanted a warm blanket. Yes oh yes I said. I love those warm blankets. So I lay on that exam table, weeping. Her kindness and competence reached out to me, as she told me that crying can be healthy...let the hard stuff out.

But then...I happened to tell her that my son was swimming a half a block from us, at the university pool. It made me happy to say it. She exclaimed that her brother was swimming there as well!

And as only the universe can conspire...we realized that her brother will be attending the same college as Ben...and swimming on the same team in the fall! My tears disappeared and I forgot the scary test, as we happily chatted about this unlikely connection. Everything changed in that darkened room.

Wow, I thanked God and the angels and the archangels and all the company of heaven for that gift of connection with another....as I walked out with dry tears and a big smile.
